Search & Rescue

When someone's life is in the balance and time critical, UAVs will be the necessity tool of the future. Too often we hear in media "if only they could have been rescued earlier." Also too often in the media the word "drones" is almost always associated in a negative way. Not anymore.

With the advancement in cameras providing night, infrared, and thermal vision technology a single operator can locate and relay GPS coordinates to rescue teams. This, in turn, will cut down retrieval times while also assuring the safest and quickest route possible. A UAV could also land carrying crucial gear for the distressed party. Offering items such as two-way handhelds, life saving medication, and tools required for a safe evacuation.

Firefighters can deploy small craft UAVs to scan buildings where heat and smoke would not allow a human to reach. They can assess the fire for proper venting and evacuation. Have a "birds eye" view on the fire where full scale aircraft could not enter.

AFT can work with your department and the FAA to help obtain a UAS wavier certificate under the COA program offered to all Public Agencies.
